7 Travel Destinations to Visit on a Guided Tour

Most of our travel has been done independently. We enjoy the freedom and thrill that comes with forging your own path and having the flexibility to change it whenever you feel it fits.

We do, however, feel that guided tours are sometimes a beneficial and rewarding way to travel also. It has its place in travel, just like a five star resort does for those who usually travel budget.

It?s a welcome break and an enjoyable slice of relaxation allowing you to Kick back and let someone else do the work, so you can fully absorb the experience.

Whether it?s because of a region?s political instability, regulations that only allow guided tours, safety, physical endurance, or areas that the traveller feels would be just too much hard work on their own, guided tours can be a worthwhile option.

There is no point in missing out on visiting a destination high on your bucket list just because it is too hard to do it on your own. Forget about the coolness factor that often comes with travel and those around you making out independent travel is the only way to be cool.

What?s important is that you travel and enjoy yourself.

Antarctica

The King of all travel destinations. The place you can say that you have never lived until you have visited the seventh continent.

Untouched, uninhabited, unexplored, Icebergs, penguins, whales, seals, Happy Feet?Who does not want to visit this enchanting land?

I?d even be happy to suffer the freezing temperatures if it meant I go take this grand adventure. I have been advised that South Georgia is a must visit for your Antarctica tour.

Tibet

High up in the heavens, with a unique meditative atmosphere all of its own, journeying to Tibet is a life-changing adventure. ? Peregrine

A difficult place to enter and travel around, Tibet would be the ideal experience on a guided tour. Tibet is very high on our bucket list and we almost made it when we were in Zhongdian, China.

The border was so close and we contemplated joining a small tour that was offered from tour companies in the area. We discovered that it was expensive and would be quite a challenge to try and arrange ourselves

The breathtaking mountain scenery, vibrantly coloured people and landscape, the ancient way of living, the spiritual home of Lhasa and the Dalai Lama, a peaceful yet violently oppressive history. I feel that a trip to Tibet would be nourishment for the soul.

India

But that?s India: infinitely varied and reliable in its capacity to surprise and delight. ? Peregrine

I was chatting with Fiona Parker on my Mojito Mother Podcastlast week. She studied yoga for several months in India and often visits there. We spoke about travelling there with children and how she feels really comfortable to do that now, especially with the way India has changed over the past 10 years.

I?ve not been to India and I really want to go. However, I am really nervous to go there with the children. Might seem strange to some, but when you have kids the world does turn strange.

I think I would like the comfort and security of a guided tour of India to ease myself into it and allow me to see that magic lives there and that I can return safely with my children independently.

Iran

Iran is the Middle East in a nutshell, and endlessly surprises, intrigues and invites. ? Peregrine

Okay so definitely not a place to visit on your own. Unless you are fearless like Wandering Earl. I?m not even sure you can travel there independently.

It?s a land full of history and culture and beautiful Persian architecture. But most of all I think there lies a deeper story that I would like to connect to. The story of its people, a people we only ever hear negative things about. My experiences travelling have lead me to believe that people are not really bad, they are just misunderstood.

Uncornered Market really inspired in me a desire to travel to Iran, an untouched land with stories of beautiful people that the news refuses to share with you. They discovered warmth, hospitality and kindness. Thank goodness for bloggers for providing truth.

Mount Kilimanjaro, Tanzania

Soaring to the impressive altitude of 5895 metres (19,350 feet), it provides incredible views of hundreds of square kilometres of surrounding countryside ? thousands of feet below ? as well as of the mountain peaks, valleys and glaciers around you.- Peregrine

It has been on my wish list forever. I know that I will conquer Africa?s highest mountain in the future.

We?ve seen her rising above the African plains, but she just wasn?t ready for us when we were in Tanzania.

Craig and I love hiking and climbing mountains when we travel. Reaching the summit of Killi would be the ultimate. It is also something I would love to do with my children.

Climbing a mountain teaches you so much about your own personal power. It teaches you how you can work with the challenges that arise in order to reach your final destination. You learn that really the most amazing part to it all is the journey to the top, the view from the summit is just a sweet fleeting reward. The journey is what strengthens your spirit.

Galapagos Islands, Ecuador

Earth?s Great Wildlife Extravaganza. Underwater, on land and in the air, the Galapagos presents a simply staggering portrait of nature at its greatest. ? Peregrine

Another area that needs to be visited on a guided tour as strict measures are in place to protect this wilderness area.

We?ve all heard of the land of Charles Darwin and the birth of his theory of evolution. A remote island of roaming giant tortoise, land iguanas, sea lions, and ancient dinosaurs (okay I made that up).   Penguins, frolicking dolphins and all manner of birds can also be experienced up close and personal.

Apart from the unique wildlife, this World Heritage Sanctuary also has a volcanic landscape, lush tropical vegetation, green and white sand beaches, mangroves, lakes, lagoons and crystal clear waters to explore.

Sounds like paradise to me.

I am a big believer in evolution and the power of change, so I would love to see the place that inspired the theory.

African Safari

I just threw this in as I?d go on an African safari any which way I could. I?ve done it independently and on tours and both are equally as good as each other. It makes sense to choose both at some stage as well.

It is always awesome to have a guide on safari to teach you more about the wonderful world of the animals from the dung rolling beetles to the King?s roar.
